Notes:

As the eighth child of his father, Theunis is born when his father is 53 years old and his mother 39. This would lead his descendents to suffer confusion for many years as to the relationship between Theunis and Petrus Johannes*1841, the latter in reality being the father of the former. By 1955, at the time of the drawing up of their joint will, the couple lives in Bloemfontein.
